In 2012, Supreme turned its attention south, tapping Memphis legends Three 6 Mafia for one of the most memorable releases in its long-running series of music-driven photo tees. DJ Paul and Juicy J were photographed wearing Supreme, connecting the raw aesthetic of Memphis rap with a brand deeply rooted in New York skate and street culture. The duo became the first non-New York hip-hop act featured on a Supreme photo tee.
Released as part of Supreme's Fall/Winter 2012 collection, the project extended beyond the now-iconic portraits. The range also incorporated Three 6 Mafia's Hypnotize Minds imagery, while Supreme released a surreal, chopped-and-screwed-style “Chicken Wing Recipe” promotional video starring Juicy J and DJ Paul.
